October 7, 2011. Indian Bowling League Team Tournament - Whiplash storm into the top 4 Championship Group at postion 3 just below Al Qwassem & Kuwait Federation.
Other winners were No Strikes !!, Amaya, Kegler Strikers, Fire Fly, Alleygators. Week 8 - Mubashar TV interviewed Salem Hajras of the Kuwait Federation. The encounter of iBowl and Whiplash considered the David and Goliath. Where the experienced Whiplash prevailed 2496-2259. Moving them into the 3rd slot in the Championship round. In all three games the seasoned bowlers showed their consistency, competence and expertise that demolished the novice 823-754, 829-779 & 844-726. Whiplash crew was Aga Cuadrazal, Ediwn De Mesa, Rico Baluyot, Aldin Avila & Vernie Villaruel. While iBowl top scorers were Roy Vaz and Ramona Soares. Given the right breaks and opportunity at the right time, No Strikes were ready to make their way into towards the Intermediate Group after toppling Bowling Stones. Featuring the dynamic duo of 12 year old Anastasius Menezes & Joel Fernandes chipped in the needed points in sweeping the 3-game series match via 746-705, 794-681 & 830-703 scores. The final points tally elevated No Strikes !! to second place in the Greenie Group standings. Also Bowling for No Strikes in this match were Ulysses Menezes and Nadine Dias. Bowling Stones were bannered by Branden Pinto, Conrad Pinto, Leandro Rodrigues, Leroy Rodrigues & Raoul Pinto. Looking at the seventh week performance of the league pace setters, Kuwait Federation hurdled their assignment with relative ease while stamping their class over the over matched Amaya 838-795. A sudden change over game control lead to defeating Kuwait Federation in their low scoring game two 741-776. Rey Ualat, Raine Ualat, Marj Mercado, Blanca Mercado & Lito Mercado of Amaya made the necessary adjustments in game three where they prevailed 761-737 in taking down the mighty Kuwait Federation Team. Top point contributors for Kuwait Federaton in this encounter were Andrew Frawley, Salem Hajras, Abdul Aziz Majed & Mohammed Kamel. In a thrilling finish with Kegler Strikers nipping Pin Pointers 835-708 in game one. Aqeel Al Farisy, Ed Mendoza, Jr Sabado & Rommel Genciana of Kegler Strikers had a 127 pinfalls advantage in the opening game that was followed by the 836-690 victory in Game two as well. Pin Pointers then snatched the deciding and tightly contested game three 792-738 but Kegler Strikers managed to go home with the match as they grabbed the pivotal overall game points when they edge Pin Pointers in total pinfalls 2409-2190. Top scorers for Pin Pointers in this match were Alfred Avila, Joe Presenta, Rocky Castil & Dan Montano. The supposedly exciting game between the two resolute teams Fire Fly & Spare Us to join the Championship Group. Led by Anthony King their only stinger, Spare Us buzzed their way to a convincing 884-782 win over Fire Fly. Compiling the winning points for Spare Us in Game One and Two Victories were Brian Fernandes, Colin Costa, Valentine Gonsalves, Monali Jeremaih & Anothny King. In a sudden come back in Game Three Fire Fly scored an amazing 928-767 thereby winning the overall win point with a 2478-2435 score. For Fire Fly the leading points contributors were Lee Mills, Nourie Amiri, Nasha King, Abdurahman Swaydeh & Jassim Darwish. Still trying to wear off the rust from its previous losing stint, West End Watches have to shrug off the gallant stand of the Alleygators in the first two games of the match before cruising to a 2278-2337 decision. Despite their opponents big advantage in experience the Alleygators, manned by Jason D’Souza, Rohan Fernandes, Samantha Fernandes, Gloyne Fernandes & Merlyn Fernandes gave West End a run for their money in the first two games before conceding via 748-777 and 766-779 scores. With the two hard earned victories in their pocket, completed their move back to the winners came to a surprising halt when Alleygators gobbled them up with a 823-722 victory winning the overall game points and the game thus sliding West End Watches Co from the Championship Group to the Intermediate Group. West End Watches Bowlers were Ahmad Sultan, Lloyd Fernandes, Nelson D’Souza & Mudassir Tungekar. Meanwhile Solo Sorriso came back from a 2 game losing skid and nosed out Petrolink 2452-2437. The first two games saw Farid Gabriel, Mishari Fadley, Abdullah Khalid, Mohammed Ashour & Mohannad Ebrahim giving Petrolink a comfortable lead after posting 823-791 and 845-826 victories. With an almost impossible mission in their hand Solo Sorisso (Just Smile), Abdullah Behbehani, Mohammed Al-Rashed, Nawaf Al-Hassan & Yousef Al-Huraibi denied the odds and successfully worked out a way to snatch 835-769 victory in game three that also helped them grab another 5 points by emerging with a higher total pinfall score. Al Qwassem on the other hand streaked to their third consecutive victory by halting Street Bowlers 2498-2378. Looking more and more like a newly transformed squad each week, Al Qwassem quintet of Ali Boulishi, Ayad Amiri, Fadel Qwassem, Fahad Abul & Fahad Rughaib easily stormed in front after brushing aside the Street Bowlers squad in game one and three 833-804 and 760-806. Street Bowlers however avoided a sweep when Amaldo Fernandes, Rakesh Ramanan, Shirley Castellino, Celine Fernandes & Domnic Picardo snatched the game two from the Al Qwassem via a 806-760 count. Weekly High Team Series was taken by Al Qwassem with 2498. The Weekly Men’s High game was bowled by Ed Mendoza of Kegler Strikers with a 275 game. The Weekly Women’s High Game was captured by Majorie Mercado with a score of 250. These Weekly Prizes were sponsored by Amman Bhel Puri Restaurant Salmiya established in 1971.
