A new craze is sweeping UK primary schools. The Night Zookeeper project is a free online resource for schools that encourages creativity in children and inspires them to produce creative writing and artwork about their own magical animal.
Their animals enter the world of the Night Zoo, where anything is possible! Children are then encouraged to take on the role of a Night Zookeeper themselves. They must carry out ‘Missions’ to look after the animals in the zoo, these typically involve playing imaginative, offline games like making up a dance, singing a song or writing a story.
A team of digital artists and former teachers are available to deliver the full Night Zookeeper experience in school, in full Night Zookeeper attire. They may even bring a Spying Giraffe with them! If you are interested in using the resource or booking the project please contact: paul@nightzookeeper.com or contact Andrew Schofield on 97254424.
This ever-evolving online world is only in its infancy, however it has already received contributes from children across the UK and some schools in the US, Spain and Australia. The ideas that the children come up with are so creative and inspiring that the Night Zookeeper team say they want as many children in the world as possible to have the chance to create their own magical animal.
“We are creating a new environment for learning online, where the traditional barriers that can restrict creativity had been removed. We do this by, among many other ideas, describing the inspirational heroes in the Night Zookeeper story.” Joshua Davidson, Night Zookeeper MD
In November last year Night Zookeeper won the first UK Education Startup Weekend which was sponsored by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. They then followed this win with victory at the prestigious Learning Without Frontiers conference this month
