KUWAIT, Feb 8 (KUNA) -- A Canadian medical delegation paid a visit here Monday to Beit Abdullah project for soothing care of children, describing it as a "pride" of Kuwait.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the non-profit University Medical Network of Hospitals in Canada Dr. Robert Bill said in a press statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on the occasion of his visit to Kuwait that soothing therapy is so important for cancer patients.
Dr. Bill added that this kind of therapy helps the children recover, make the time they spend in hospital happier and make them less scared of taking drugs and dealing with doctors and nurses.
The notion behind the establishment of such medical house, or Beit in Arabic, is to offer support to the chronically sick children as well as their families in a friendly atmosphere that boost the children's morale and provide overall care for them.
Further, the House provides services that include helping relieving pains through daily care such as the games and recreational utilities, besides some residential utilities for relaxation, emergency and advanced health care.
The idea behind this medical house is that it serves as an alternative house for the children's original home and their own families who need support to provide a decent and healthy life for their beloved ones.
It is expected for this project to take the form of a recreational resort as it will comprise theatre, club, restaurant and jacuzzis in order to amuse the children as well as allocating some rooms for the children's families to sleep beside their cancer-afflicted children in order not to feel lonely during the treatment.
Beit Abdullah is a Kuwaiti project that derived its title name from a Kuwaiti cancer patient child called Abdullah. - Kuna
