KUWAIT, Feb 22 (KUNA) -- Assistant Undersecretary of the Kuwaiti Health Ministry for Planning and Quality Affairs, Dr. Walid Al-Falah
, said on Monday his ministry was cooperating with the World Bank (WB) to improve the quality of health services. "The multi-faceted cooperation between the two sides which is part of the WB's Strategic Cooperation Program (SCP) dates back to more than three decades ago; it covers a broad range of issues in different development areas," Dr. Al-Falah said in statements to the press here. The World Bank plans to arrange for a visit to the State of Kuwait by a team from the British National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE), he said. During the visit, to take place soon, the NICE delegation are expected to meet with various officials of the ministry and produce recommendations for Minister Dr. Hilal Al-Sayer, he said. "In the framework of the SCP program Kuwait hosted a workshop in January on funding for the health services and health insurance systems. "The future Kuwait-World Bank cooperation covers building the capacity of the Ministry's officials in the domain of communication with the mass media and the other government and non-government organizations," Al-Falah revealed. It also covers the supervision on, and best uses of, pharmaceuticals and modernizing the information systems relating to health services. "These efforts fall in the framework of the Ministry's strategic planning for meeting the future needs of health services and coping with the population growth through a practical well-calculated approach," he added. - Kuna
