KUWAIT, March 1 (KUNA) -- Kuwait boasts that it has as many as 88 health centers and 49 medical laboratories nationwide, providing medical services to all Kuwaiti nationals and foreign residents , a health official said here Monday.
However, the Ministry of Health plans to open a health center and a medical laboratory at every residential area in the country, the Ministry's Primary Care Department Chief Dr. Laila al-Doseri said in news remarks.
There is now a medical center for every 39,000 people, while there are 1, 000 doctors at health centers nationwide, she added.
There is now a GP for 4,413 people, but the rate is targeted to be a GP for 2,500-3,000 people, she noted.
The percentage of Kuwaiti visits to health centers has hit 67 percent. - Kuna
