Health official stresses GCC medicine registration

KUWAIT, March 6 (KUNA) -- Central registration for pharmaceuticals and medical supplies is a key division of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Health Ministers' Executive Office , a senior Kuwaiti health official said here Saturday.
The division implements the resolutions of GCC ministers of health, which are bearing on pharmaceuticals, with a view to ensuring available safe and effective medicine, Undersecretary of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health Yussif al-Nesf said in news remarks.
The Kuwaiti official made the remarks on the occasion of the convening Gulf central committee for medicine registration.
The committee seeks to unify medicine registration systems and procedures, and even medicine quotation, and to monitor pharmaceutical quality, safety and side effects in the GCC member states, he added.
The committee, which kick-started here earlier in the day and will last for four days, is being held under the auspices of Kuwaiti Minister of Health Hilal Al-Sayer. - Kuna
