KUWAIT, March 21 (KUNA) -- Visiting British Consultant from Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children (GOSH) said Sunday that he will carry out rare and complex surgeries on Kuwaiti children aged six months to two years
, in Bahar Ophthalmology Center. Professor Kenneth Nigel told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on the occasion of his visit to the country, that the scheduled surgeries consist of treating Glaucoma and Cataract. He had examined more than 40 cases with a number of doctors in Bahar Center, in addition to presenting scientific seminars and training courses for them in the field of Ophthalmology for children. The visiting professor praised the level of services provided by the Bahar Ophthalmology Center, and the equipment available, pointing out that there is constant contact with Kuwaiti doctors to follow up cases and provide medical advice. On the other hand, Consultant in Bahar Center Dr. Abdulmutalib Behbehani told KUNA that this visit boost health relations between Kuwait and international health centers, in addition to its substantial role in exchanging experiences and benefiting from them in carrying out complex surgeries. Behbehani added that surgeries const thousands of dinars if carried out abroad, therefore visiting international doctors enable Kuwaiti doctors to benefit from their expertise and train on the latest therapeutic methods. Kuwait is known in the Gulf region for its highly qualified doctors in the field of ophthalmology, Behbehani stated, adding that the visit of experts to Kuwait aims to reduce material costs incurred by the State in the treatment of citizens abroad. The Ministry of Health received many doctors and international consultants to improve the quality of services available, and the exchange of experiences, which enables citizens to receive high quality medical services in the country instead of traveling abroad for it. - Kuna
