Digging works for Jaber hospital starting |

KUWAIT, April 19 (KUNA) -- The Kuwaiti Ministry of Public Works has commenced digging works for a new Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital project, the project's architect said.
Foundation-laying works are to be carried out within the coming few days' time, Ali Nadoum told KUNA, saying that the total value of the hospital contract is estimated at KD 303.9 million. The hospital, which will take 48 months to complete, covers an area of 720, 000 square meters, he said, adding that the project is far from the capital city in a bid to ease out traffic congestion. The hospital has been designed in a way that combines the concept of planning and Islamic architecture and decoration, and the beacon of the new medical facility sumpblizes the rich maritime history of Kuwait, Nadoum pointed out. The project's architect boasted the hospital as a civil eddifice that represents a reference and symbol of the stage of Kuwait's civilizational and cultural development. The 1,160-bed building is home to diagnosis and treatment units, clinics, emergency section, denistry and central units, in addition to a parking lot that can receive 5,000 cars, he said. Furtheremore, three sites have been allocated for helicopters to land in case of emergency, he concluded. - Kuna
