KUWAIT, June 5 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Ministry of Health announced on Saturday that a medical team from McGill University of Canada would start work at the Chest Hospital on Sunday.
The mission of the team is part of an agreement signed by the ministry and the university in May on the development of the healthcare services of the hospital, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry for Backup Medical Services Dr. Qais Al-Dowairy told KUNA on Saturday. "The document aims to lay out a five-year development strategy for improving the care for heart patients and building the capacity of medical staff of the hospital, Al-Dowairy disclosed. "It will serve as a nucleus for improving the healthcare services and medical research in Kuwait at large on the lines of the world's state-of-the-art technologies and the achievements of McGill-affiliated hospitals in this domain," he said. "The team will pay two-week visits to the hospital a month to assess the operation system as a prelude to outlining the development plans in the administrative, surgical and healthcare fields, Al-Dowairy added. During his visit to Canada last January Minister of Health Dr. Hilal Al-Sayer signed an agreement with the university which laid the groundwork for the May agreement. - Kuna
