KUWAIT, June 8 (KUNA) -- A visiting British professor specialized in burns and plastic surgery is to perform 24 surgeries within a week at Al-Babtain Burns Treatment and Plastic surgery Center in cooperation with a Kuwaiti medical team
, an official from the Ministry of Health said Tuesday. Center's Director Ahmad Al-Fadhly told KUNA that these operations to be performed for Kuwaiti patients were post-burn plastic surgeries, besides holding scientific and training lectures for the center's doctors on state-of-the-art therapeutical methods and giving medical advice on some medical cases. The upcoming visit of experts to Kuwait aims at lessening expenses defrayed by the state when it sends citizens abroad for treatment, Al-Fadhly said. He pointed out that Kuwait is marked from among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states by having a galaxy of experienced doctors in the domain of plastic surgery and the host of such world consultants of high medical calibre would further enhance medical services in Kuwait and invest them with new expertise. Al-Fadhly also expressed his hopes for these visits to achieve optimal benefits in what makes them a touchstone for assessing the quality of medical services offered at Kuwait's hospitals, hailing the keenness of the Ministry of Health on developing its services through seeking the assistance of world-renowned doctors. The Ministry of Health has sought of late the expertise of many world-famous doctors and medical consultants in order to upgrade its services, push for the exchange of expertise and spare Kuwaiti citizens the toil of traveling abroad to receive treatment. - Kuna
