KUWAIT, June 30 (KUNA) -- Assistant Undersecretary of Kuwait's Ministry of Health Dr. Khaled Al-Sahlawi announced on Wednesday that the system of offering first aid guidance to help seekers by phone would be introduced this October.
"The system of first aid and medical consultancy, aiming to save lives of victims of accidents or serious diseases before the arrival of ambulances, will be offered initially in Arabic and English," Dr. Al-Sahlawi said in statements to KUNA. "The ministry started a course to train the medical and technical teams in operating the new system around the clock with foreign trainers taking part," he said, noting that the trainees will get world-class certificates at the end of the course. "The program targets the 70 staffers of the surgical and technical depts. The medical emergency dept does its utmost to upgrade the life saving and medical care services in line with the world's latest achievements," he affirmed. "The dept is planning for the digital communication system to oversee the movement of ambulances in a more effective way. The system aiming to minimize the damage resulting from accidents and serious diseases will be introduced soon," Dr. Al-Sahlawi added. At least one person perishes and three-four others are injured in road accidents in Kuwait per day while the medical emergency dept receives up to 300 calls daily. - Kuna
