KUWAIT, Aug 10 (KUNA) -- Ministry of Health said Tuesday Kuwait was totally free of H1N1 virus, in line with assurances of the World Health Organization's (WHO) Emergency Committee.
Assisant Undersecretary for Public health Dr. Yusuf Al-Nesf was speaking to KUNA on occasion of WHO announcement that the world was no longer in phase six of influenza pandemic alert, and it was past-pandemic period. He said the ministry set up high-standard preparations to deal with the virus starting from checking travellers coming from pandemic-hit countries, placing thermal cameras at airport and providing medications for possible infected cases. More than 8,500 flu cases were recorded in Kuwait and they were treated and fully recoverd. the H1N1 virus killed around 18,500 people in the world. - Kuna
