KUWAIT, Aug 30 (KUNA) -- Municipal inspection teams are due to launch an intensive campaign to search for expired or unhealthy food products, with the approaching Al-Fitr feast, the top municipal official said on Monday.
Ahmad Al-Sebeeh, the Director General of Kuwaiti Municipality, affirmed in a statement to KUNA keenness of the municipality on the health of the nationals and residents of the country particularly in seasons during which purchase of food products increases. The municipal teams will tour the country's six governorates and search for unlicensed trade vendors, including those who deal in birds, dangerous animals such as snakes, monkeys, as well as fire works. He indicated that the combing operation would include, in particular, stores that sell dates, sweets, dairy products and meats. The municipal teams have already confiscated large amounts of dates displayed by vendors who carried no expiry dates certificates. - Kuna
