KUWAIT, Sept 15 (KUNA) -- A Kuwait neurosurgeon succeeded Wednesday in planting a battery in the spine of a young patient suffering from Cerebral Palsy (CP).
Neurosurgeon at Bin Sina Hospital Dr. Hassan Khaja said that the operation was conducted on a five year-old patient, noting that the procedure was aimed to ease the chronic muscle tension caused by CP and also prevent complications such as respiratory problems as well as heart failure. Dr. Khaja also noted that such operations are conducted in world renowned medical institutions with the cost of KD 30,000 for the operation but the Ministry of Health and the Kuwaiti leadership are very keen on providing low-cost and highly successful procedures for patient of CP disorders.
