She added in remarks to KUNA, on Sunday, that this drop is due to the extensive inspecting campaigns carried out by the municipality on the food storehouses. The municipality inspecting teams found 15 tons of expired nuts in one of food warehouses in Shwaikh, she noted. The food dealer by then had the choice either to destroy the goods or to export them back to their source country, during a period not more than three months, she explained. She stressed on the importance of spreading awareness among food dealers not to sell their goods for human consumption until they receive the green light from the specialized laboratories. An official in the municipality, Ahmad Al-Attar, has reported the location of two tons and 60 kilograms of expired food from since February. The violations registered by the municipality were of dealing with expired food, opening storehouses without a permission from the municipality and non-compliance with general hygiene rules, he said.
