A Kuwaiti health official stressed here Tuesday the significance of alternative and supplementary medicine, which he said have been deeply rooted in societies.
This kind of medicine should be practised in line with recent scientific developments and facts based on evidence and proofs, Dr. Yusif al-Nesf, assistant undersecretary of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health for medical support services, addressed a world Gulf medical conference on behalf of Kuwaiti Health Minister Hilal Al-Sayer. The conference is part of the activities of the Gulf Committee on Alternative and Supplementary Medicine, he said. This cooperation and integration between the committee and the conference would set out scientific rules and basics for the practice of alternative and supplementary medicine, he added. It would also highlight the various aspects of such practices and lay down appropriate frameworks for their future in the GCC member countries, the Kuwaiti health official noted. The two-day conference focuses on the negative and favorable effects of herbal medicine, natural medicine and Chinese medicine and alternative medicine. - Kuna
