The Health Ministry here on Wednesday urged people most vulnerable to the A (H1N1), or swine flu, to take the vaccination
, reassuring its "safe". Primary results of vaccination campaigns worldwide proved there were almost no side effects for the vaccine, ministry spokesman Dr. Qeis Al-Duweiri told KUNA, calling people not to pay attention to unprofessional reports. The health minister, ministry officials and cabinet members were among the first to take the preventive shots in order to reassure society and put an end to false reports on inefficiency of the vaccine, Dr. Al-Duweiri noted. Children under five year of age, people with chronic and respiratory system-related diseases, as well as those suffering heart problems, have HIV AIDS, the pregnant and the obese ought to be among the first to get the shots, he said. The ministry is following recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) in this regard, as well as renowned European and American medical organizations, Al-Duweiri noted, pointing out that taking the vaccine "is optional yet essential" and is available in all hospitals and medical centers of the country. Yesterday, the Health Ministry announced the 26th fatality of the virus for a man in his 40s. Kuwait's total swine flu cases stand at 7,718 as of late last week, most of which were mild cases that had fully recovered. - Kuna
