KUWAIT: The Ministry of Communications (MoC) has established a committee to oversee the updating of telephone services subscribers' data.
Announcing the move on Tuesday, Dr. Walid Al-Najjar, the ministry's Deputy Assistant for Planning and Development, explained that it came at the instructions of communications minister Dr. Mohammed Al-Busairi. Subscribers can update their data at their local Private Branch Exchange (PBX) offices without having to visit the ministry's headquarters, the senior MoC official added. Al-Najjar was speaking following a tour of the Ras Al-Salmiya PBX office, during which he observed the work taking place there, taking particular interest in the printing and mailing of customers' phone bills, reported Al-Qabas. He explained that much of the problem behind the delays in updating customer data lies in the PBX staff being unauthorized to carry out such procedures, adding that ministry personnel will soon be assigned to each of the PBX branches to carry out the work. Al-Najjar emphasized the need to ensure that the process of printing and mailing invoices is correctly carried out, saying that this helps to eliminate delays in payment from subscribers. He also revealed that a new online billing system is to be introduced shortly to help in updating the billing process and improve the collection of payments for services, which provide 90 percent of the MoC's revenue. - Kuwait Times
