The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor has initiated procedures to restrict the transfer of visit visas to work permit
, in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, reports Al-Nahar daily. The daily quoting reliable sources noted applicants will be required to fulfill a set of conditions for approval of work permits. For instance, the applicant must be holder of university degree which the market needs, in addition to police clearance from the applicant’s state of origin. The step is aimed at reducing the flow of marginal workers into the country, which has become heavy burden to the state in several ways.
Meanwhile, sources confirmed the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor is preparing a study on the needs of the local market, and effect of ministerial decisions that have been issued for the stability and reformation of the work market through market statistics, if it’s related to the rate of laborers, employers’ activities or constructions. Meanwhile, Assistant Undersecretary for Labor Affairs at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor Mansour Al-Mansour has issued a decision requiring GCC nationals, who own private companies and recruit laborers from abroad, to pay KD 250 financial guarantee for each worker, reports Al-Shahid daily. - Arab Times
