A Saudi princess is calling for couples to undergo mental health and drug addiction tests before they can get married in a bid to cut the kingdom’s rising divorce , the Saudi Gazette reported on Monday.

Princess Sara bint Musaa’ed bin Abdul Aziz, chairwoman of the Muwadda Women’s Divorce Charity, said the organisation wants mental and drug tests along the lines of the medical tests currently required, the daily newspaper reported.

She said the group is also looking to introduce family awareness programmes into school curriculums and start awareness programmes for married and divorced couples, according to the paper. - Maktoob
