DUBAI - Two people were injured on Tuesday when a train carrying 186 passengers crashed outside of Riyadh, Arab News reported, citing a statement from the railway authority.

The engine and three compartments of the train derailed in the desert around 77 km from the Saudi capital, the Saudi daily reported on Wednesday.

“The No. 6 Riyadh-Dammam train carrying 186 passengers in addition to 14 crew members steamed out of Riyadh station at 12.50 p.m. None of the passengers was injured,” the Saudi Railway Organization was quoted as saying in a statement.

The authority said it is investigating the crash, but did not comment on the cause, the newspaper said.

The two injured in the crash, the driver and assistant driver, were taken to hospital, the paper added, without giving details about their condition. - Maktoob
