A two-day Indian Real Estate Exhibition began yesterday at the Ramada Hotel in Riggae
. Over 30 property development firms from across India are participating in the event, with more than 100 projects on display. The 19th India Property Exhibition was organized by Indus, India's pioneer and premier exhibition management company, in partnership with Kuwait's Response Events and Exhibitions. Indian Ambassador to Kuwait Satish C. Metha inaugurated the event and lauded the organizers for bringing the c ompanies to Kuwait and giving the NRIs (Non-resident Indians) considering purchasing a home the best options. Speaking with reporters after touring the venue, Ambassador Metha praised his country's growing real estate sector. "The real estate sector back in India has been growing every year," he stated. "It attracts many foreign investments. By the end of 2012 we'll be short of about 26 million apartments. That's shows how many developments are taking place in the next months or years to come," he asserted. According to the ambassador, the reason behind this massive surge in real estate investment is the relentless growth of the Indian economy. "The Indian economy is growing very fast and people's incomes are also growing," he said. "Last year our economy grew by 8.6 percent and although this year it will slow down a bit, we are still seeing growth of 7.5 percent or more. We are expecting the growth rate to continue in the coming years. So we know that real estate business is doing very well. Ambassador Metha said that steadily rising incomes and internal migration are amongst the other reasons behind the increasing popularity of home-ownership: "Ancestral homes are no longer a viable option these days. People nowadays are considering buying their own properties, like me. I was born in Jaipur, but I'd been living in Delhi. So I eventually acquired properties in Delhi. My situation is the same as other Indians; So internal migration is taking place, and the demand for housing is really growing. He told reporters that an exhibition like the current one in Kuwait offers NRIs a chance to see the best property options available. "This exhibition is really the best place to see and get your best pick. I wish the exhibitors success, as well as those who are thinking of investing in real estate. I really hope that they make the best choice and they can get their best pick here," he said. A massive selection of property projects is on offer at the exhibition, from simple land plots to starter flats, luxury apartments, villas and commercial properties. "You have a choice, whatever you require, it's all here and it offers the best opportunities not only to Indians but to all possible investors from Kuwait," he added. The show features properties in locations across India, including Mumbai, Thane, Pune, Delhi, NCR, Gurgoan, Jaipur, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Srisailam, Nellore, Chennai, Pondicherry, Ooty, Coimbatore, Trichy, Surat, Navsari, Trivandrum, Kodaikanal, Hosur, Kochi, and many more.
