11 killed, 24 injured in train-truck accident in India |

At least 11 persons were killed and 24 injured in India on Sunday when a speeding train hit a truck carrying sand.
The accident took place at an unmanned railway crossing in the countrys northern state of Uttar Pradesh, reported the Press Trust of India (PTI). According to the report, the impact of the collision was took strong that the truck was blown into pieces. The report quoted a local district official as saying: "Eleven people were killed when a truck loaded with sand was hit by the train at an unmanned crossing." The injured have been admitted to nearby health centres. There are hordes of unmanned railway crossings across India which lead to many a fatal accident every year. Besides, there are several decades old railway bridges which also pose a serious threat to rail accidents risking many lives. - Kuna
