Hong Kong looks forward to opportunities in Kuwaiti market |

KUALA LUMPUR, May 17 (KUNA) -- Hong Kong is keen on benefitting from "positive factors" which characterize the Kuwaiti market
, Hong Kong's Secretary for Finance John Tsang said Monday. Following a meeting grouping Kuwaiti Finance Minister Mustafa Al-Shimali with Tsang, Consul General to Hong Kong Bader Al-Tneib told KUNA that Tsang noted the fact that China and Hong Kong ratified a number of treaties with Kuwait, all of which come with special "privileges." Al-Tneib said that the meeting was "successful," adding that Tsang is planning to head a delegation grouping senior investors, businessmen, and specialist to explore new opportunities and establish a ground for future cooperation with the "important" Kuwaiti market. The government of Hong Kong hopes to benefit from Kuwaiti experience in Islamic investment in particular, Tsang said and called on Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA) to allocate an office in Hong Kong, which will prove "fruitful" as the latter is considered a global economic center. Meanwhile, Al-Shimali hailed Honk Kong for facilitating cooperation which would benefit both countries, and called on Hong Kong to take part in major projects in Kuwait. He affirmed that Kuwait is willing to share Islamic financial expertise with the country. - Kuna
