KUWAIT, May 24 (KUNA) -- Ahmadi Governorate has seized and destroyed 1780 kg of frozen chicken infected with salmonella.
Director of the Ahmadi Municipality Branch, Fahad Al-Otaibi, said in a press release that the inspection of food stores located within the governorate resulted in the confiscation of large amounts of chicken that was unfit for human consumption.
Municipal teams collected random chicken samples and sent them to the Health Ministry's laboratories for testing, which found that the frozen chicken was unfit for human consumption, due to salmonella infection, whereupon the whole batch of chicken was tested, he added.
He affirmed that inspection rounds covered all shops in the area, to preserve the health and safety of the consumers. - Kuna
