KUWAIT, Sept 25 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Fire Service Department (KFSD) announced on Saturday it would provide the supermarkets with smoke detectors at reasonable prices in cooperation with fire control systems.
Smoke detectors play an important role in alerting the household in case of a fire, and they are sold at reasonable prices, Public Relations and Media Director in the Kuwait Fire Service Department Lieutenant Colonel Khalil Al-Amir told KUNA today. The fire extinguishers and smoke detectors protect people and properties from any possible fire and limit human loss and material damage, regarding that most of the fire accidents take place in homes during the night, he affirmed. He stressed the importance of training the family members and workers to follow the safety precautions, urging those who get exposed to any fire incident to gather in one spot and take use of the first aid box. The department has so far dealt with more than 2,600 fire incidents during the first half of this year, which resulted in the death of more than 11 people due to suffocation or gas inhalation. More than 100 people have been injured, he concluded. - Kuna
