MP Dr Yousuf Zalzalah made a draft suggestion to form a new company to provide cattle and fresh meat and to be fully financed by government and work independently from Kuwait Livestock trading company.
He said, it seems that the case of meat shortage has become one of the crises which the government and the concerned parties do not want to solve. Especially that Kuwait Livestock Co, which is entrusted to solve this problem, has failed completely, and since it is a government company it did not over come the problem despite subsidies from the government. The excuses given for meat shortage in the market are unjustified, sources said. MP Abdul Rahman Al Anjari has made a question to the Minister of Commerce and Industry Dr Amani Borusly: During the past years, newspapers used to publish reports issued by capital standard and report them to minister of commerce being the owner of the company. What is the relation of the minister with this company? What position does she have in that company, and does she still have that position. He added if the answer is negative, please advise the minister to resign from that job. He further enquired, being a teaching staff member in Kuwait University if she had obtained a license for studies and consulting office as per university regulations and whether her work in that company was approved from university management? Meanwhile, MP Maasouma Al Mubarak said that Kuwaiti military formalities in Boubyan island came after some Iraqi groups tried to enter it by force, accusing the Iraqi politicians who oppose Mubarak port project, and that those politicians are trying to revive the claims of the ex Iraqi president Saddam Hussein. She pointed that the Iraqi technical committee verified that the project consists no harm to Iraq. Al Mubarak told the Iraq media that to prepare around forces inside Kuwait border is right on the side of Kuwait. She added, what happened three days back of sending Iraqi group to threaten the Kuwaiti border and trying to uproot the gates separating the borders and create confusion documented by pictures. Such action has made Kuwait to bring security men and around and place them at its border to avoid any actions on both sides. Pointing that any movements to Kuwaiti forces inside its territory does not present any threat to anyone. As Kuwait is a mall state and it is not in our interest to create problems with Iraq. She considered that Kuwait is practicing its sovereignty over its territory and that is not a threat to Iraq or anyone else. She further called upon Baghdad to curb those who try to cross the Kuwaiti border as it is from the concern of the Iraqi authorities. Dr Maasouma added that Kuwaitis ask Iraqis simply to implement the UN resolutions and respect the border between the two countries and to confess that Mubarak port is part of Kuwait sovereignty over its lands. She continued that Kuwait has said several times through His Highness the Amir that Kuwait does not accept that Mubarak port cause any harm to Iraq. Pointing out that the technical committee came from Iraq and was convinced that the project causes no harm to Iraq, and this was confirmed by Iraqi foreign minister several times. She called upon Iraqis to look at the project positively emphasizing that the project shall serve Kuwait, Iraq and the whole region. - Kuwait Times
