The Kingdom of Bahrain will witness the holding of two major oil-related international conferences next week, which both see participation of oil and gas elite experts from around the world.
Bahraini Minister for Oil and Gas Affairs and Director of the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA) Dr. Abdulhussein Bin Ali Mirza told reporters that holding the events was part of NOGA's collaborative strategy with the Bahraini government to attract international events in a bid to transfer technology and exchange expertise in the oil industry. The first event will be the SPE/IADC Middle East Drilling Technology Conference and Exhibition (MEDT), which will take place on October 26-28, 2009. MEDT is co-organized by the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC). MEDT will have an in-depth focus on the drilling discipline, which is an area of continuous development and challenge. With the theme "Managing Limited Resources to Overcome Today's Challenges", MEDT will cover equipment, technology, and challenges. It will see the presentation of more than 50 papers and the attendance more than 250 participants. The second conference is Offshore Middle East-2009, to be held on October 27-29, 2009. This event, as well as MEDT, are owned and produced by PennWell Corporation; a highly diversified, business-to-business media company that provides authoritative print and online publications, conferences and exhibitions and databases, among other services. Other co-organizers include Saudi Aramco, the National Oil and Gas Authority, Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO) and Qatar Petroleum.
