Deposits in local banks in Kuwait saw a boost during last month, pumped by remarkable increase of government deposits, Kuwait National Bank (NBK) said Monday.
NBK, however, said credit remained low and did not match the growth of deposits. Monetary supply jumped in October by KD 149, said NBK. Foreign currencies deposits in local banks, including NBK, grew by 15.7 during October against 14.8 percent the month before. Deposits in local banks jumped by KD 656 million, while government deposits alone hiked by KD 462 million, noted NBK. - Kuna
