Interior Ministry: Four themes for streamlining incoming labor |

The perspective adopted by the Interior Ministry on organizing the status of the domestic workers coming from abroad has four themes
, said Director General of the General Directorate of Immigration at the Interior Ministry Brig. Kamel Al-Awadi on Sunday. This remark was made at a workshop organized by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) on training national trainers in the field of the incoming labor. The workshop was attended by Undersecretary of the Social Affairs and Labor Ministry Mohammed Al-Kandary, assistant Undersecretary of the Interior Ministry for nationality and passport affairs, U.S. ambassadress to Kuwait Dibora Jones, director of the Domestic Workers Department at General Directorate of Immigration Colonel. Abdullah Al-Ali. Futhrer, representatives of foreign affairs ministries, embassies of the labor exporting countries and the United Nations were present. Brig. Al-Awadi pointed out that the first theme of this perspective is a proposal on establishing a stock company for bringing and recruiting labor with the aim of finding a single organization for using and employing skilled labor of a high efficiency. He added that the second theme refers to the Interior Ministry's view on amending the ministrial decision on organizing the rules of domestic workers in order to cope with the current and future developments and the international laws regarding the preservation of the rights of both of the employers represented in importing bureaus and domestic workers. As for the third theme, it is based on activating cooperation with the foreign affairs ministry in order to coordinate with the embassies of labor exporting countries and eliminate the phenomenon of the escape of the domestic workers and their resort to these embassies, besides working to standardize the job contracts of this category of labor and not forcing the employers to unjustified commitments. The fourth and last theme recommends a tight control, follow-up and inspection on activities of the domestic workers importing bureaus. Brig. Al-Awadi confirmed that this project has won the admiration of all embassies of the labor exporting countries including the European embassies, pointing out that this perspective will bring about a qualitative shift in Kuwait's history regarding the use of labor and preserves their rights in all aspects. He went on to say that domestic workers importing bureaus are entitled to use and employ domestic workers, pointing out that this new mechanism is totally different from the one applied before. Eventually, Al-Awadi said that the labor bureaus will work to enable the incoming labor for study the customs, traditions and laws of the Kuwaiti society before importing them, adding that this will be in the interest of the Kuwaiti citizens. - Kuna
