Director General of Kuwait's Civil Aviation Directorate Fawaz Al-Farah called on the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries
Monday to adopt the "open air" policy between all of their airports and to scrap all obstacles against commercial flights' operations. Speaking to KUNA on the occasion of the 30th GCC summit, due to start here later today, Al-Farah said the GCC countries have realized many achievements for the development of civil aviation and infrastructure of airports. On the establishment of new airline companies, Al-Farah said the new carriers have modern fleets which required the adoption of the open air policies. The open air policy will have great benefits on economic sectors in the Gulf countries, as well as increase flights among the six GCC states, he said. This policy, added Al-Farah, will facilitate and further encourage the movement of people, trade exchange and freight. Al-Farah hoped the GCC countries would reach a regional agreement to completely open the air between them thus strengthen economic integration. - Kuna
