KUWAIT, Dec 16 (KUNA) -- Jazeera Airways maintained largest share at Kuwait International Airport, announcing here on Wednesday key performance figures for the month of October
, including an 83.3 percent increase in traffic compared to October 2008. Jazeera Airways has operated 1,973 sectors, an increase of 73 percent from October 2008, representing 26 percent of Kuwait Airport total flights. Jazeera Airways' market share has increased by over 51 percent so far for the year, from operating 1,301 sectors in January 2009 to 1,973 sectors in October for the same year. "Our strong performance in October and the preceding months, resulted from the realignment of our network that took place earlier in the year. Since then, Jazeera Airways has not only maintained its position as the largest Kuwaiti airline, but has also grown its operations in October to over 25 percent of total operations at Kuwait Airport," Jazeera Airways CEO Stefan Pichler said. Jazeera Airways is listed on the Kuwait Stock Exchange and operates a fleet of 10 Airbus A320s to destinations across the Middle East, Iran, North Africa and the Indian Subcontinent. The airline will receive an additional A320 in January 2010 and has a firm order for 29 additional aircraft to be delivered over the coming years. Jazeera Airways was established in 2004 and began operations in October 2005; Jazeera Airways is the first private scheduled airline in the Middle East. Today the airline operates a new fleet of 10 Airbus A320s to 23 non-stop routes and three seasonal summer destinations in the Middle East, North Africa, Iran, and India. - Kuna
