KUWAIT, Dec 16 (KUNA) -- Wataniya Airways announced here on Wednesday that it started cargo operations on November 1, by offering the same premium service product to its cargo clients.
Wataniya Airways aim is to match and exceed the service levels of its regional competitors. In a press release, Network Cargo Manager Finlay McArthur said Wataniya is operating A320 aircraft from Kuwait to eight major destinations in the Gulf and the Middle East to maximize the cargo opportunities. Wataniya teamed up with Heavyweight Air Express as Network GSSA who have considerable experience in the kind of service, he added. Wataniya operates from a terminal within Kuwait International Airport which enhances the service levels and quality provided to its customers, McArthur said. Wataniya intends to build on attracting key players in the Air Express and Perishable market sectors where it offers tailor made exclusive services. With an average of a 45 minute turn around at most of Wataniya's network airports, Wataniya has developed new working practices and have managed to create a smooth and speedy operation on the ground that delivers the unique service to its clients. In just over one month from the start of its cargo services Wataniya Airways has already uplifted over 180 tonnes, with only half the network open for cargo services. "We are delighted to have partnered with Wataniya Airways to help them establish and market this new cutting edge cargo product across the Middle East," Director of Heavyweight Air Express Neville Karai stated. "Our first month performance surpassed all our expectations and we look to continue to build on this success into 2010. Our aim is to build a competitive and sustainable business solution that will continue to take our industry forward," Karai added. Wataniya Airways operating from Sheikh Saad Terminal, commenced operations in January 2009 with point to point connections across the Middle East. Wataniya operates routes to Amman, Bahrain, Beirut, Cairo, Damascus, Dubai, Sharm El Sheikh and Jeddah with more destinations to follow. - Kuna
