KUWAIT CITY, Dec 18: The Public Education Department of the Ministry of Education will receive applications from expatriate private school teachers

who have acquired enough experience in the field of teaching, within or outside Kuwait, reports Al-Qabas daily. The initiative is aimed at making up for the shortages in the teaching staff at the public schools. However, a source noted the ministry paid no attention to check if experience certificates have been ratified inside or outside the country, contradicting its decision issued November 18 in this concern. The source was surprised the ministry has adopted this sudden procedure, whereas the Public Education Department simply requested approval of the experience certificates of applicants with the ministry’s Private Education Department.

On the other hand, an official source in the Private Education Department said proprietors of the schools ought to release teachers to  work wherever they desire, while proprietors are free to choose teachers from within or outside Kuwait, indicating the Private Education Department is not responsible for the selection of staff. Meanwhile, the Assistant Undersecretary for Public Education at the Ministry of Education Mona Al-Lughani declared the high school examination certificates were released Thursday, Dec 17, 2009. She noted the schools administration will be expected to issue the intermediate and elementary examination certificates by Sunday, Dec 20, 2009. - Arabtimes
