KUWAIT, Dec 21 (KUNA) -- Astronomer Adel Al-Saadoun on Monday that the beginning of winter, astronomically, begins on this day, December 21.
Al-Saadoun told KUNA that the sun is in line with the Tropic of Capricorn and is at an inclination of 23.5 degrees, which is the greatest inclination of the sun to the sun, such that the summer season begins in areas that fall under the equator in the southern hemisphere.
This inclination of the sun to the south marks the astronomical beginning of winter in the northern half of the globe, called Winter Solstice, he added.
He noted that since Kuwait is located in northern part of the planet, the length of the day has become longer like areas in the north.
The length of the day in Kuwait today is 10 hours, 51 minutes and 46 seconds, and the length on Tuesday will be 10 hours, 51 minutes, and 48 seconds - and it will continue to increase until March 21. - Kuna
