KUWAIT CITY, Dec 22: Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Mudhi Abdulaziz Al-Humoud affirmed the Ministry will not obligate those who have completed 30 years
of service with the Ministry to retire, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. This statement was made by the Minister during a seminar titled “Assembling at Al-Aqsa mosque and Jerusalem unifies us”, held at Mariam Abdul Malik Al-Saleh School on Monday. Dr Al-Humoud clarified that the Ministry of Health is the authority responsible for issuing swine flu vaccines, adding that these vaccines are still being administered selectively. Addressing the theme of the seminar, the minister said Kuwait is concerned about all issues that affect the Arab world. She also stressed that Jerusalem occupies a special place in the heart of every Muslim and Arab.
Meanwhile, Kuwait Teachers Association will reveal a monument crafted by 800 students who used 25,000 pencils as gesture of gratitude for their teachers and attempting to enter the Guinness Book of World Records, the association said on Tuesday. The monument is to be revealed as the association holds the sixth “Thank You, Teacher” festival under the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. The monument has a chance of being acknowledged by the Guinness Book of World Records, chairwomen of the higher committee Fatima Al-Zir said in a press conference. The project involved students of different stages of education who sought to express gratitude and appreciation for teachers and to highlight their role in development. “This, surely, manifests the slogan of this annual festival,” the official stated. - Arab Times
