KUWAIT, Dec 29 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's National Assembly Speaker Jassem al-Kharafi expressed here on Tuesday his hope on achieving a concord between legislative and executive authorities
on a bill on the compliance between Kuwaiti sports, Olympic Charter and statutes of international federations. Al-Kharafi said in a press statement that," Wednesday's session will be allocated for discussing the report submitted by youth and sports committee on the draft law ... and I'm hopeful of reaching a consensus on it in order to put an end to this topic." He added that," But there is a disagreement between the committee and the government, I do not think that we will reach the required result", expressing his fears that at that time, "Session may add up to nothing." However, he expressed at the same time his optimism on reaching a consensus on this topic, pointing out that any member of the parliament is entitled to say his view and that," We are a democratic institution and subjected to a voting system at the end." Tomorrow's special session of Kuwait's National Assembly came at the invitation of a governmental request in order to discuss the draft law. Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Muhammad al-Afasi earlier pointed out in a statement to Kuna that approving such a law in the National Assembly means keeping away the spectre of suspending Kuwait's embassy in the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for good and then," Ship of Kuwaiti sports will be on the safe side." - Kuna
