KUWAIT, Dec 30 (KUNA) -- Meteorologist Issa Ramadan expected here on Wednesday the state has an opportunity for scattered rain with fluctuation of temperature and humidity upon the wrap of the year 2009.
He told KUNA the country is to be affected by a Cypriot low pressure system starting today with the continuous rise in temperature, maximum temperature reaching 24 degrees Celsius. He said relative humidity is to continue till the evening. He expected more clouds on Thursday due to the approach of the low pressure system. He expected the rain showers to be mainly seen in northern Kuwait and thunderstorm and rain to be seen as a cold front passes by, shifting winds northwestern. Temperature would probably drop on Friday, with maximum temperature expected around 17 degrees Celsius. Moreover, the clouds are to decrease, the rain is to stop, and the active winds are to stir dust in the air in the desert areas, he said. Wind speed is to decrease on Saturday and the temperature is to increase above 20 degrees Celsius with the beginning of 2010, especially on Sunday and Monday. The reason for the notable warmth this year is due to the interruption of the Siberian cold air masses en route to the Middle East by a low pressure system crossing the Atlantic Ocean, he said. The temperature of the oceans in the upper hemisphere has increased which leads to the formation of consecutive low pressure systems leading to heavy rains and snow in North Africa, Europe, and north regions of the Middle East. - Kuna
