KUWAIT, Dec 30 (KUNA) -- Director of Security Media Department and official spokesman of the Ministry of Interior Colonel Mohammed Hashem Al-Sabr announced
on Wednesday the change of the emergency service number (777) to (112) starting next Friday with the beginning of the new year. Al-Sabr said in a statement that there is an international trend that the emergency service number be (112) and approved in all countries of the world and be accessible to everyone wherever they went to seek help without delay. He added that this comes in the continued quest of the Ministry of Interior to provide advanced services to all citizens and residents in emergency situations in an efficient manner and within the general plan for the ongoing renovation of all sectors of the ministry. Al-Sabr pointed out that the security media department has carried out a media campaign in all media sources to inform citizens and residents of different languages and cultures of this change and make them aware of the importance of this service. He said the new emergency number would reduce the erroneous calls received by the previous emergency number because of the similarity with one of the companies' phone number, adding that emergency number receives more than 10, 000 calls a day. - Kuwait
