KUWAIT CITY, Jan 3: The Under-secretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor Mansour Al-Mansour says all types of visa applications will be received at the various departments of the ministry
as of Monday, Jan 4, 2010, reports Al-Shahid daily.
In a statement to the daily Al-Mansour stressed the labor departments will accept applications to issue work permits for certain exceptional groups, and transfer from one sponsor to another under Article 18 of the private sector, as well as transfers from other articles to Article 18.
In the meantime, he added applicants renewing their residencies and other labor related applications will be handled in different departments of the ministry, indicating the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor issued a circular around mid-December 2009 to suspend all application processes in the labor sector, purposely to review the total number of applications at the various labor departments in 2009.
Meanwhile, sources in the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor revealed the transfer of business visit visa to work permits in the private sector is ongoing.
The sources added the time limit for transferring expatriates’ work permits in the private sector without conditions will end by April 15, 2010, indicating the transfer will be carried out for three months.
“The decision number 1104 of the Council of Ministers specifying the percentage of citizens to work in the private sector will be implemented by March 19, 2010” sources told the daily. - Arab Times
