KUWAIT, Jan 5 (KUNA) -- The municipality and the electricity ministry are to be electronically linked up to facilitate paper work for private construction projects, as well as for ensuring tighter control on bureaucratic work.
An accord for the link-up venture was signed on Tuesday by Minister of Public Works, Minister of State for Municipal Affairs Dr. Fahdel Safar, and Minister of Electricity and Water Dr. Bader Al-Shuraiaan. In a statement to journalists, Al-Shuraiaan said the project would help in restricting bids to circumvent laws and enable personnel in the two departments to have full access to all paper work processes. It will also cut unnecessary bureaucratic procedures and will be quite helpful for archiving data. The ministry of electricity, through the new system, will be able to link up the due fees with those in the other state departments. For his part, minister Safar indicated that the program was part of the overall e-governement project and would be effective in punishing citizens abstaining from paying the power bills, by depriving them of power supply. Other officials affirmed the project necessity to abort any bids to "steal power" or falsify documents. - Kuna
