Registration for Informatics Award lasts until late Jan. |

KUWAIT, Jan 12 (KUNA) -- Registration for HH Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah Informatics Award remains open until late January, the award manager, Khalil Abel, said here Tuesday.
He urged all those interested in informatics and digital outlets to register as soon as possible, noting that the prize involves eight different categories: individuals, civil society, private sector, government, education, health, media and communications, and culture. The award worth KD 100,000 (nearly USD 370,000) will be divided among the participating websites, he said, boasting that the prize is the most significant informatics award in the Arab world. Prospective winners will be honored in the annual celebration conducted under the patronage of HH the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, he said. The award has taken clear-cut operational methodology by focusing on three key tracks. The first track represents the "Informatics Award", which varies between monetary and in-kind prizes, the manager said. The second track for the award is the "Informatics Development". It mainly aims to disseminate informatics culture and to achieve comprehensive and integral development between individuals and organizations by supporting training centers and holding seminars, Abel added. The third track is "Informatics Knowledge. Its purpose is to promote the civilized face of the Arab world in the informatics field and render the digital public data pertaining to individuals and organizations, he concluded. - Kuna
