KUWAIT: The Kuwait Environmental Protection Society (KEPS) warned against the serious environmental violations being committed against the land and the sea environments.
They also accused the directorates required to protect the environment of not doing enough to limit pollution, reported Al-Qabas.
In their statement KEPS added that that they noticed several violations at camp sites which including campers who leave garbage behind and poor allocation of camping locations. The current chaotic manner of camping has damaged the several forms of life that inhabit these environments, they added. Several kinds of plants, reptiles and insects are now completely wiped out of some locations because of the impact campers have on the local terrain, they said. KEPS urged the Municipal Council to be more active and called on its members to monitor the irresponsible habits of campers. They suggested setting conditions to the activity such as allocating certain areas for camping. They concluded their statement by announcing the release of instruction booklets that demonstrate how campers can enjoy their activities without damaging the environment. - Kuwait Times
