KUWAIT, Jan 17 (KUNA) -- Kuwait hosts next February 24-27 its first exhibition on economic history titled "Features on Kuwait's Economic History" with participation of some local banks and firms as part of Kuwait's marking of its independence and liberation days, the exhibition's organizing committee said Sunday.
The exhibition aims at giving opportunity for various Kuwaiti firms and corporations to showcase their history and contributions to further strengthening the Kuwaiti economy through what they have of photos and documents,the committee said today in a press statement.
The committee said that this exhibition is the first of its kind in Kuwait and the Middle East as it chronicles and relates chapters of the history of local corporations and firms and the extent of their participation in constructing the Kuwaiti economy.
The exhibition also highlights the role played by the Kuwaiti private sector over many decades in the Kuwaiti economy takeoff, it said.
The statement added that this exhibition sheds light on the contributions made by many Kuwaiti firms and corporations to bearing the brunt of the initiative of achieving the added value for the Kuwaiti economy. This comes at time when some of these corporations operate in various economic sectors since more than 100 years and are still playing their role in development.
The committee also said in its statement that this exhibition showcases chapters of Kuwait's history and highlights some key phases on building up the modern Kuwaiti economy. These phases start from the discovery of oil and the boom seen by the country through establishing a big group of corporations that took the lead of establishing the Kuwaiti economy till the present moment.
It pointed out that sponsoring and participating bodies will have the opportunity to display what they have of old documents, photos and machinery, besides some other old materials which represent a historical heritage that gives credit to Kuwait as a proof of a long journey of achievements.
The exhibition is an invitation to youth and next generations to get acquainted with the achievements made by Kuwaiti firms and corporations which helped build up the Kuwaiti economy over some decades, the committee said.
The participants in the exhibition will have the award of historical achievement as a message of thanks from society to those who shouldered the responsibility of laying the bases of Kuwaiti modern economy with all the challenges and hazards included.
In addition to the exhibition and its award, the participant bodies will offer their visions and highlight the salient aspects of their history in the first book relating the economic history of Kuwait from the perspectives of private sector and business people. - Kuna
