KUWAIT, Jan 18 (KUNA) -- Inquiry on malfunction of Mishref wastewater recycling station will end before this weekend, Minister of Public Works and Minister of States for Municipal Affairs Dr. Fadhel Safar said Monday.
The ministerial investigation committee will submit a report on the incident within two days, Safar told reporters after the meeting of the parliamentary investigation committee. A detailed display on the station's location and establishment, as well as responses to MPs inquiries were discussed during the meeting, the minister noted. He added that location of the station was chosen by the Municipal Council, "as there is a court order to overrule the 2004 lawsuit to re-locate the station." Other related issues discussed included causes of malfunctions, maintenance, payments for the contractor, and technical standards for the station's equipment, he pointed out. The parliamentary committee will hold another meeting next Tuesday with one of the recovery teams, in implementation of cabinet resolutions to solve the problem, Safar said. The station broke down late August 2009, which caused it to be filled with poisonous gas and for untreated sewage water to be released into street drains of the area. - Kuna
