New Kuwaiti Ambassador to UN assumes duties |

UNITED NATIONS, Feb 23 (KUNA) -- Mansour Ayyad Al-Otaibi assumed duties as the new Ambassador at the Permanent Mission of the State of Kuwait to the United Nations
on Monday and is to present his credentials to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon March 4. The diplomat's previous position, since 2007, was Ambassador Extraordinary and Director of the Department of International Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The 44 year-old diplomat is not new to the UN mission, having worked there since 1992 and ascending in position till he was named advisor and Charge d'Affaires between 2004-2006. Al-Otaibi also represented Kuwait at regional and international organizations and events and in many conferences of the United Nations, of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, and the Non-Aligned Movement. The figure has two published works to his name; one on Kuwait issues at the UN General Assembly and another on the UN Security Council stances over the Iraqi aggression on Kuwait and related issues. Al-Otaibi is taking over after Abdullah Al-Murad, whose tenure ended in December. - Kuna
