KUWAIT, March 6 (KUNA) -- Arabi Magazine is fully aware of the cultural competition posed by the Internet and satellite broadcasting, Chief Editor Dr. Suleiman Al-Askari said on Saturday.
Al-Askari spoke at the annual Arabi Magazine symposium and said that the new age of multi-media outlets could be a double-edge sword for magazine in a sense that it a magazine refused to develop structure, it would be less prominent and left behind and vice versa. In the current age of the internet, it would be important to follow new ways to deliver cultural to the masses and Kuwait took a good step in doing such by launching Al-Arabi cultural satellite channel last years. Activities of the symposium, sponsored by the Kuwaiti government, would begin two days time and would feature some paramount Arab cultural figures who would discuss the notion of new media outlets and their effects on printed materials. The event would also address the concept of censorship and the correct means to implement such procedure, stated Al-Askari. The symposium's activities would begin on March 8 and would held at the Crown Plaza hotel. - Kuna
