KUWAIT, March 15 (KUNA) -- Traffic congestion in Kuwait is expected to be alleviated through planned projects purposed to erect new roads, introduce train services and apply collective transport
, a senior official said here Monday. The Ministry of Public Works has a plan to develop existing roads and to build new ones, primarily the Eighth Ring Road, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry for Road Engineering Hussein Thiab addressed an open weekly gathering, organized by the ministry. The ministers of public works and oil are expected to meet together next week to discuss how to wipe out potential obstacles and impediments that could scuttle the execution of the Eighth Ring Road, he said. Several crossroads are to be developed, and inter-region roads, mainly including Al-Salmi and Al-Abdali roads, will be converted into highways, the official added. The planned moves are chiefly intended to ensure smooth traffic and to ease out congestion in the streets of different Kuwaiti cities, he pointed out. - Kuna
