KUWAIT, March 16 (KUNA) -- Kuwait University's Center for Community Support and Continuing Education has established a new computer academy for the young.
The fresh move comes as a result of a pressing need for training programs bearing on applied computer sciences for the sake of 12-16-year-old young people, Deputy Director of Kuwait University for Academic Supportive Services Ahmad Al-Monayyes said in news remarks. This age group can be used as a nucleus for a future knowledge-based society in Kuwait, he said. More attention should be attached to the young given the sensitivity of this age category and their stupendous apprehension capability that should be developed through specialized programs, he added. Teaching the young computer applications, chiefly game programming, high quality Internet website design, e-advertising, publication and interactive multimedia, would certainly deepen their understanding skills and analytical capabilities, he believed. But, he regretted that existing training centers are mostly destined for adults only. For her part, Center for Community Support and Continuing Education Director Fawzya Maarafi said the center is keen to provide new and modern services to all societal categories. The new academy aims to create a distinctive generation of creative young people who master computer sciences in line with scientific bases far from traditional or regular education, she said. This academy, which is mainly based on education output, is meant to develop the young's information and technology skills in a professional manner, Maarafi said. - Kuna
