KUWAIT, March 17 (KUNA) -- Over 100 photographs by more than 40 artists aged 15-19 will be showcased at 'The Green Lens' photography exhibition at The Lowry Gallery (British School of Kuwait)
on Thursday March 18. The event is organized by 'The Green Initiative', founded by then 16 year old British School of Kuwait student Yara Al-Wazir in March 2009, with the aim of raising awareness about climate change through education and innovation. The theme of the exhibition is 'climate change through the lens of the next generation'. The photographs featured are entries from The Green Initiative's photography competition, and have been organized into three categories, the most prominent of which is 'the impact of climate change'. Having worked with six schools, introducing recycling programs into four of them, 'The Green Initiative' reshapes the image of climate change, emphasizing its effects on the region, and specifically Kuwait. The program is sponsored by the British Council's Global Changemakers program, which works with youth aged 16-25 all over the world, taking them to high level summits such as the World Economic Forum, the UN World Climate Conference, as well as organizing regional and international youth summits. - Kuna
